Is the current president of California State Society of American Medical Technologists. She has been in this position since January of 2015 when she took over for Sheryl Rounsivill, AMT’s Western District Counsillor. Nicole Graduated with an AS degree in Medical Assisting from San Joaquin Valley College, Fresno in 1997.
One interesting fact is that she was the student of Sheryl Rounsivill (Western District Counsillor) and Jeannie Hobson (past CaSSAMT President and now on the National BOD of AMT). Nicole received her Registered Medical Assisting Certificate (AMT) in 1997. Additional certifications from AMT are the Registered Phlebotomy Technician (AMT) -2006, and Allied Health Instructor – 2011.
Nicole is currently in employed by her alma-mater, SJVC, as an instructor in Medical Assisting. Nicole has been very active at the state level of AMT being elected to the CaSSAMT BOD as a member at large from 2007 – 2009, Vice President 2009 – 2014, and currently as President. She also has been CaSSAMT’s “California Vision” editor since 2013. At the National AMT level she is currently on the Publication Committee and Nominating Committee, as well as being a leader in putting together AMT’s first mini certificate on EKG’s.
As a member of CaSSAMT she has been instrumental in bringing the “student challenge bowl” to the National AMT meeting. She attended her first National AMT meeting in 2011 and has not missed one since. National Awards received are, RPT of the Year, 1st and 2nd place Newsletter. Nicole is currently working to take her Certified Medical Assistant Specialist certification. Nicole lives in Fresno, California – in the “Central Valley” of California
